The MSc Counselling Psychology degree is an advanced psychology programme which seeks to advance knowledge in counselling for students who have majored in psychology. The modules offered include psychopathology and therapy, postmodern counselling approaches, ethical issues in counselling, psychometrics and community psychology. During my internship, I managed to exhibit competence in applying professional skills in clinical work, supervision, and outreach activities in accordance with the profession-wide competencies specified with the APA Standards of Accreditation. I also managed to articulate my theoretical understanding about problems in human behavior and their treatment, with respect and appreciation for individual and group differences. The training gave me an opportunity for the understanding and integration of ethical principles into practice. It also developed my interpersonal skills through my interactions with and impact on professional colleagues. I had an opportunity to use my internal and external resources to deal with the personal and professional stresses inherent in the provision of services.
