Senior Specialist : Access Transmission Plan and Build Budget

Role purpose:

Responsible for the providing of technical expertise for all transmission networks across Vodacom South Africa regions including, transmission planning, optimization and performance management. Provide expert-level expertise within the transmission network domain specifically focusing on network design, network upgrades and support of the implementation of industry best practices across the regions.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Responsible for compiling the Capex Budget for Transmission.
• Responsible for compiling the OPEX Budget for Access Transmission.
• Responsible for the automation of various Access Transmission Reports.
• Monthly OPEX reporting and analysis.
• Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced growing company.
• Network planning and design experience on fibre, microwave and leased line solutions.
• Negotiation and leadership skills a must and be able to engage with various stakeholders internal and external.
• Perform network audits.
• Responsible for planning and designing of backhaul infrastructure and the integration of services with NMS and north bound interfaces.
• Provide opinion and technical expertise on optimizing the microwave, fibre and leased line network.
• Understanding of following technologies: RAN 2G, 3G, LTE, 5G.

The ideal candidate for this role will have:

• Minimum 3-year Degree/Diploma/degree in electrical engineering or computer sciences.
• Preferable 10 years in transmission network planning, optimization, and performance management/improvement.
• Minimum 5 years of exposure to GSM, UMTS, and LTE mobile telecommunication technologies.
• 5 years of experience in transmission for mobile radio networks and associated technical investigations, research, and fault finding.
• Minimum 10 years in the telecommunications industry.
• Experience of using network planning tools.
• Strong understanding of telecommunication networks and standards.
