Job Ad & Profile Description

Position : Finance & Commercial Manager

Based in our South African office and reporting in the matrix structure to the Country Manager: IMEA and the Global Office Finance Manager you will play a key role in the leadership of Insights Learning and Development Africa (ILDA) through leading Finance and Corporate Services, working in the pursuit of operational excellence and driving positive change and improved performance as we scale and grow our business, using effective and innovative processes, best in class technology and an unwavering commitment to people development.

You will work in close partnership with the Country Manager: IMEA, the Global Office Finance Manager and Global Corporate Services, holding responsibility for managing the office both logistically and administratively whilst ensuring that the accounts and ledger activities are completed in a timely and accurate manner, ensuring adherence to global policies and processes.

What you will do to succeed

  • As a hands-on Finance and Commercial Manager, you will be accountable for achieving consistent, and profitable and sustainable revenue growth
  • You will be expected to demonstrate a rounded skill set with your key strengths being strategic leadership and commercial acumen
  • You will have proven experience in laying solid foundations and building a scalable and continuously improving business
  • Work in partnership with the Country Manager: IMEA; the Global Office Finance Manager and Global Corporate Services to agree ways of working in support of the Matrix structure for employees based in Africa
  • Work with the People Business Partners to oversee employment administration for our people in South Africa
  • Act as local signatory for key activities as required ensuring compliance with global processes
  • Operate as a valued and trusted member within the wider management team, leading by example in everything you do whilst driving global consistency within the wider ILDA team.
  • Take lead responsibility for developing risk mitigation strategies within the team to minimize business disruption and to ensure service levels are attained including setting and managing Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

Finance and Commercial Management

  • Responsible for the overall operational performance and profitability for ILDA
  • Preparation of monthly management accounts
  • Monthly payroll processing
  • Preparation and submission of quarterly VAT returns
  • Processing of transactions across purchase and sales ledger, banking, and expenses
  • Prepare and assist with the annual budget in accordance with company guidelines
  • Process activities within the purchase ledger, sales ledger and credit management
  • Administer banking and expenses transactions
  • Contribute to finance improvement projects as required
  • Full profit and loss responsibility for ILDA
  • Responsibility for the global management reporting and ensuring that reports are produced to business guidelines and requirements.
  • Forecasting and budgeting within company guidelines.
  • Assist with the implementation of global finance system and embedding of this.
  • Inventory control and costing.
  • Responsible for the compliance with South African legislation, including BBBEE and Skills Development
  • Contribute to the achievement of the global strategy by working closely with the global Finance function
  • Responsible for Corporate Services, including procurement, IT and facilities management
  • Employee management, mentoring and coaching.
  • Providing regular reports to Country Manager: IMEA on the financial performance of ILDA

Customers

  • Developing a sound understanding of the market and key stakeholders
  • Being a champion and advocate for the organisation, the solutions and the strategy
  • In ownership of ILDA P&L be a driver of the overall success of the ILDA business, ensuring flourishing local strategies for success with the matrix environment of ILD.

Relationships

  • Working closely with Country Manager: IMEA; the Global Office Finance Manager, Global Corporate Services and the People Team
  • Collaborating with other key stakeholders in the business nationally and internationally
  • Attending scheduled and ad hoc Regional meetings as required

  • Strong finance and operations background with excellent commercial acumen
  • Able to influence and negotiate at all levels, in particular to be credible and convincing in front of senior decision makers
  • Knowledge of the BBBEE and skills development legislation,
  • A strategic thinker with creative and expansive thinking
  • Motivated by stretching targets and has a natural drive for results
  • Inspired and excited by self-development and by the development of others
  • Commercially astute, numerate and market savvy
  • Experience of working within a customer focused environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of Excel.
